Talkonymous
Safety centre

Stay anonymous. Stay safe.

Talkonymous is built so strangers can't find out who you are. These habits keep it that way.

The golden rule

Never share anything that could identify you: your real name, phone number, address, school or workplace, social-media handles, photos of yourself or your surroundings, or financial details. No genuine person needs them.

Red flags: leave and report

  • Asking for personal details, photos, or to move to another app or a phone call.
  • Asking for money, gift cards, crypto or "help" with a payment, or offering investments or jobs.
  • Pressure, guilt-tripping, threats, or a sudden intense "connection".
  • Sexual talk you didn't ask for.
  • Saying or sounding like they're under 18.

Your tools

  • Next: skip to someone new instantly. No explanation needed.
  • End: hang up at any time.
  • Mute: your mic is only ever on during a call, and you can mute it.
  • Report: the flag icon. Choose a reason; they won't be told. Several reports mean an automatic ban.
  • Block: never be matched with that person again.
  • Reset identity: in the "You" tab, get a brand-new anonymous identity at any time.

Sextortion and scams

If someone threatens to share something unless you pay, don't pay and don't keep talking. Block them, report them, and contact the cyber-crime helpline. Paying rarely ends the threats.
