Child safety standards

Last updated 1 October 2026

Zero tolerance. Talkonymous prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind. The app is for adults aged 18 and over only.

1. Adults only

  • Every user must confirm they are 18 or older before they can use the app. The app is rated for adults on Google Play.
  • Our Terms of service and Community guidelines forbid anyone under 18 from using Talkonymous.

2. What is prohibited

  • Any sexual content, conversation or roleplay involving a minor, or depicting minors.
  • Grooming: trying to build a relationship with a minor for sexual purposes, or to move them to another platform.
  • Sextortion, or any request for sexual images from anyone who is or seems to be under 18.
  • Sharing, requesting or promoting CSAM in any form, including links.

3. In-app reporting

Every voice call, text chat and "call ended" screen has a Report button with a dedicated "Seems under 18" reason, and a Block button. Reporting ends the conversation immediately, and the reported person is never matched with the reporter again.

4. How we enforce

  • Reports for "Seems under 18" and sexual content are treated as severe: they trigger a ban after fewer reports and go straight to the longest ban (30 days).
  • Repeat severe offenders are banned permanently.
  • We act on reports emailed to our child-safety contact (below) and remove offenders where we can identify them.

5. Cooperation with authorities

We comply with applicable child-safety laws, including India's Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act. We cooperate fully with law-enforcement requests and report CSAM to the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Talkonymous doesn't store messages or recordings, so if you see something, report it in the app right away, and contact the authorities directly:

  • India: National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in, or the helpline 1930. Childline: 1098. Emergency: 112.
  • Elsewhere: NCMEC CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) or your local police.

6. Child-safety contact

Our designated point of contact for child safety and CSAE concerns, including from law enforcement and Google Play, is:

support@talkonymous.com (subject "Child safety"). Child-safety reports are handled as our top priority.
